II. Ruth (Rolfe? Green) WHITTIER to John & Joseph WHITTIER.

1.      Ruth (Rolfe?) Green m. Thomas Whittier, b. ab. 1620 or 22, (son of Richard Whittier and Mary Rolfe) d. 28 Nov. 1696, Haverhill, MA.  Ruth died July 1710, Haverhill, MA.  The will of John Rolf, 1664, p.300, called John and Richard Whittier "my sister's   sons."  G.R. 1882 p.144 states that Thomas Whittier m. a sis. of Henry & John Rolfe. Ruth Green appears on the Hv. records. It is not an orig. entry of m., however, & no dare is given. The record was made ab. 1665. On the Salis. rec. Mary b. 1647 is dau. of Thomas & Ruth. The suggestion has been made that Ruth may have been a half sister of the Rolfe's, or a wid. when she m. Whittier, or possibly a sis. of John Rolfe's wife.
