| Comments: | I was given the information that MacKellaig derived from the Gaelic word meaning "denied one". A chieftain had a son by a servant maid but would not acknowledge him and so he was called Kailleach (sp? and so the son of this one was "son of the denied one", or MacKellaig and all the other variations. Sounds a bit far fetched, as is another theory that it means a fighter and how could that be! We are a gentle lot. A local historian has told me the earliest MacKellaig known was a 12th century papal nuncio in Scotland. |

Thomaston; Kate Mason Sleeper. She married Joseph Googins and they had my grandmother Laura Susan. My grandmother spent summers at the "Gig", as she called it, especially after her mother died. Her Aunt, Rebecca Thorndike, (who I was named after), became the mother figure to my grandmother. My mother spent summers as well with her beloved Aunt Beck. As a child we would visit two of my grandmother's cousins, Helen and Susie Sleeper, who I called Aunt Helen and Susie. | Comments: | I am the neice of the man who Wyndell H. Killough replaced on a B-17 in Germany in 1943. My uncle became very ill and was grounded. Wyndell took his place as tailgunner. They were shot down over Germany and Wyndell, to my knowledge, was the only casualty. The rest were taken prisoner of war. My uncle was 32 and Wyndell was 19. My uncle never really got over this loss. He suffered Wyndell's loss until the day he died in 1999. | Comments: | Excellent and informative website. I've done some geneology research, and I came up with similar immigration info from Ireland. If I'm not mistaken it was during the Potato famine. From what I can gather there was a push south as well by the Killough's who were frontier settlers. Alabama is where my father Keith Killough is from, and where a good portion of his family is from. The Killough's owned a good bit of land in Alabama some 60-70 yrs ago then sold it off piece by piece to logging companies. I don't run into the Killough name very often, and my name is frequently butchered. My nick name has gone from "Kilo" to "KG" (short for kilogram). |

Woodbury Kalloch Hall born in 1857, South Thomaston, Knox Co. Maine. His mother was Caroline E. Kalloch born 1836 also in South Thomaston Maine. Caroline is hard to find info on. I lost a page with
Woodbury's family tree however, I did write down on paper. It included a Harriet Sleeper born about 1810 and died 1843. That was of interest as one of your guest book entries was a Sleeper in the Kalloch family. Any insight to Caroline E. Kalloch would be of interest. I also have Alexander Kalloch born 1770 and Elizabeth Mero born 1771. The farthest back was to John Bridges born 1751.
Woodbury's father was Ezekiel D. Hall born 1828. Caroline E. Kalloch and Ezekiel D. Hall had three children Woodbury, Jennie F. Hall born 1860 also in South Thomaston ME. Fred O Hall,
Caroline's son was born in Ottawa, Kansas. I am missing the part of the story of how she met Isaac S. Kalloch, how and where she died as I can find no records of her in San
Francisco nor was she buried in
Whatcom Co. with Isaac S. and Randolph and Halsey. Does any one know where she was buried? Also Isaac Milton and Annie F. Kalloch, her other kids. I can not find where they were buried. Any help would be appreciated. With a stack of old unmarked photos I am new at this. Caroline E. Kalloch DOB Feb.5 1836,South Thomaston, Maine, Died Jan.15 1885. There is the other Caroline Philbrick Kalloch DOB

| Comments: | Hi, What a wonderful site. I have done some research on the Weeks family name. Was wondering if you could direct me to more. I know John Wingate Weeks was a relative of mine. He was the founder of the Weeks State Park in Lancaster NH. It sits on Prospect Mountain. Also the founders of Weeks Dairy are related. The information in the "in between" years are hard to locate. My Father is Dennis Weeks Sr. and my Grandfather's name was Mahlon Weeks. I believe his wife was Mildred and I know they had several children. my Grandfather lived in Maine his whole life. Although, he had sisters and brothers in the Concord area of NH. I can find family history of the Weeks name from the 1600's to late 1800's. I'm hoping for something more recent. It seems the information for our immediate family had ended primarily with my grandfather, george benton heald sr. I am presently attempting to gather some of the missing information which I would like to submit as my five children are listed, and I would like to add my eight grandchildren, including the in-laws. This is very exciting and we are all very interested in learning our history. I have very fond memories, as a child, visiting our family , in the Camden and Lincolnville Beach area. | Comments: | Accidentally came upon your website. I am the adopted daughter of Phyllis and Art Landros who are in your surname book. My brother (Sandy) and I were both adopted. My mom (Phyllis Landros) was descendents of the Smith and Ramsdell family of Maine. Her sister, Alicia Smith, wrote many poetry books which were published and had a successful publishing company in Hollywood CA for many years. The Smiths and Ramsdell's were all from Maine, still a few in Augusta, Hollowell, Portland, etc. Also before my Aunt Alicia Smith died in 1992 she did her own genealogy search and traced back that there were actual descendants on the Mayflower. Although I am estranged from that side of the family now, rumor has it, that there is a relative that is a member of the, I am not sure of the name, but I think it is called "The Daughters of the Mayflower descendants". |
