109th Kalloch Reunion Minutes - 1976

(Transcribed from the original typewritten copy.)

August 28, 1976

The 109th reunion of the Kalloch Family was held at the Odd Fellows hall in Warren, Maine with 52 present.  The Rebeccas served the dinner.

The Pres. Peter Richardson opened the meeting with roll call - each one giving their connection to the Kalloch Family.  Peter announced he is moving to Kennebunk, Maine from Weymouth, Mass. soon as pastor of a church there.

Sec. & Treas. reports were read and accepted.  Oldest member present was Henrietta Knowlton of Rockland, Me. 86 yrs. - youngest was David Kalloch of Rutland, Mass. 5 yrs.  Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Olson from Laguna, Calif. came the longest distance.

The Pres. assigned Colby Kalloch, James Kalloch, Gladys Keller, Henrietta Knowlton, and Leola Robinson as nominating committee.

The following deaths were reported: Agnes Heald Prince, Ruth Keller King, Flora Nichols Blackington, Cleveland Sleeper and George B. Heald.  Bertha Drewett read a letter from Harold Kalloch of Canada - a photo was sent which was hand drawn that he wasn’t sure if it was of Amariah Kalloch a former pastor of the First Baptist Church in Rockland, Me. or his father Alexandria [Alexander].  In looking over pictures on display it was decided it was Amariah, Harold also wrote of his trip to Kansas looking into more Kalloch records, in particular Isaac Kalloch.

Nancy Sack spoke of the news letter and her need of reports or articles of interest from families of the reunion.  Also on her trip west and into Canada she looked for Kalloch names in telephone directories but had no results.  A book “The Townsmen” Nancy had with her, contained a good article about Isaac Kalloch which corrected some of the mistakes about him in the book “The Golden Voice.”

The nominating committee reported the list of the following officers for 1977:
Pres. Peter Richardson - Kennebunk, Me.
Vice Pres. James Kalloch - Rutland, Mass.
Sec. & Treas. Hazel Hills  - Warren, Me.
Historian Bertha Drewett
Assistant Leola Robinson - St. George, Me.
News letter Nancy Sack  - Accord, N. Y.
Chaplain Mabel K. Rollins - Rockland, Me.

Discussion followed on preservation of the old record‘ books, possibly on microfilm.  A motion was made to
have a committee to investigate how to reproduce copies of old records - the first one hundred years in particular.  It was so voted.  The Pres, appointed Leola Robinson, Colby Kalloch, Elinor Johnson, Doris Morgan, Nancy Sack, Bertha Drewett & Hazel Hills.

Voted to meet again at the Odd Fellows hall Aug. 27,1977.

An invitation had been extended to the reunion to attend the 50th wedding anniversary party of for Edwin and Mabel Rollins in Rockland at the famous red barn of the homestead.  Edwin is 98 and Mabel 95.  Quite a few went to the party following the meeting.

Voted to adjourn.

Respectfully submitted,
Hazel Hills, Sec.
