Dear Cousin,

You have already planned to attend the Gilchrest -Robinson reunion and
potluck picnic at noon on Sunday, August 17, 2003 at the St. George Grange Hall. It is on the right off
Route 131 five miles south of Thomaston. But some of your closest relatives might have forgotten about the
reunion. Or, they might not be in the computer and will not get this letter. Please email me.
Every year someone suggests that the reunion notice be sent out earlier, so this is
your notice for the 2004 reunion, a whole year in advance, which will be held, as everyone knows, at the St. George
Grange on Sunday, August 15, 2004. Please email me.
Will you please call two or three of your favorite relatives and ask them to pack a
pot luck picnic lunch and go with you to visit with their long lost relatives in Knox County where we all have our
roots? We’d appreciate it if you’d bring or mail us their addresses & phone numbers, too, so they can get this
annual mailing. Young people are always getting married or having children, or both, so it’s hard to keep
track of them. Please send us the email addresses of everyone in your immediate family.
Nola Mank Metcalf now has in her computer the most comprehensive collection of
descendants of Moses Robinson. Please send her your updates — births, deaths, marriages so she can get
it in the computer before August 17th. I think she is at
jpsavage@acadia.net
There are certainly innumerable errors in our family data.
Only you can help us correct them. If you are aware of any errors or omissions Nola and I would appreciate
hearing of them now.
I’m always interested in hearing from you and can forward messages to Nola if her
email should ever change or not function. Please email me.

As you know, Samuel Gilchrest’s wife, Hannah
Robinson Gilchrest, 1756-1835, was a granddaughter of Moses, so all Gilchrests are Robinsons. Please
email me.
Ruth Hazelton generously left her house to the St. George Historical Society.
Going south, the house is located on Route 131 just before the St. George grange hall. It was built by Andrew
Robinson
What do we do at reunions? Eat, learn where our ancestors came from, take
pictures. Look at huge family charts to see how everybody is related to everybody else. Talk with old
friends. Make new friends. Have a good time in general. Do bring old pictures that you can’t identify.
Perhaps someone at the reunion can. Please email me.
If you are so inclined, please send us two dollars for dues along with your letter
of deaths, marriages or simply family news. Because this reunion notice is a labor of love, your small
contribution for postage makes it possible. When the post office crumbles under its own avaricious weight and
all is email, postage money will not be necessary. Please email your information.
You are welcome to stop in to see me before or after the reunion or anytime.
My farm, once owned by Larkin Gilchrest, is on Route 131 and is 5.4 miles down from Thomaston. It is the 7th
house (yellow with green trim) on the left after Route 73. If you get this far, you’ve passed the picnic at
the Grange. You are invited to stop in anytime and tromp on the soil of your ancestors. Visitors are
always welcome here. Especially since we now have a Bed and Breakfast.
