The 72nd [74th*]
annual reunion of the Kalloch family was held at the Penobscot View Grange
Hall with 36 present.
After repeating the Lords Prayer led by Mrs. Aliosa Watts of Saugus, Mass.
all enjoyed a picnic dinner. The meeting was called to order by Edwin J.
Kalloch, President Emeritus.
New officers were elected for next year: President Arthur D. Kalloch,
Vice Presidents: Ella Robinson, St. George, Daniel Kellar, Rockport, James
Kellogg, Cambridge, Mass., Robert Simmons, Rockland, John R. Kalloch,
Hatfield, Mass., Everett Kalloch, So. Thomaston.
Sec. & Treas. Faustina Robinson, St. George.
The following entertainment committee was chosen Faustina & Leola Robinson,
Mrs. Grace Carey, & Miss Cora Murdough.
Mr. Edwin Rollins gave a talk on the custom and use of candles in the church
since 1558 up to the present time. An account was given of a candle 18 feet
high weighing a ton to be lighted each November 2 for a day and will last
until the year 2373.
Remarks were made by E. J. Kalloch, Miss Marguerite Gould and Mrs. Marion
Waldron on the members of the past. Remarks were also made by Charles
Kalloch, and Mrs. Etta Covel & Mrs. Mary Kalloch gave a talk on the Coal of
Arms and armor worn by the Scottish Clans. A recitation was given by William
Griffin.
A vote of thanks was extended to Arthur D. Kalloch for his services as
Secretary and Treasurer for the past sixteen years.
It was voted to hold the reunion at the same place next year, the last
Wednesday in August.
