Notes for John George Killough

They had left No. Car. with a party of emigrants on their way to Tex. in 1824. When Fannie became too ill to travel, they told the others to go on and they would join them later. They settled in at the historic river town of Madison, Ark. A
grandson, Oliver, used the name Joseph G. instead of John George. In the 1830 census they were listed in Crittenden Co., Ark.; in 1840 they were in Saint Francis Co., Ark., where he taught school; later the family is found in the Poinsett and Cross
Co., Ark., census. He was also a cattleman. After her early death, the three children were raised by the family of Dr. John P. Mardis in Poinsett County.
