Notes for Isaac Killough

Isaac moved to Georgia with his parents and family in 1782 and is thought to have gone with them to Tennessee in 1806. In 1820 he and a large number of his family moved to Jefferson Co, Al, and then to Talladega Co., Al. Talladega Co. was legally
opened for settlement January, 1834. Many people were already there, living among the Indians. Records show many land acquisitions and sales there by members of Isaac's family. In 1837, he and his sons sold their holdings for gold to purchase land
in east Texas. They moved with seven of their children and families to what is now Cherokee Co. (originally Nacogdoches Co.), TX, arriving there the day before Christmas. Five of their children and thirteen others were killed or disappeared with the
Indians in the massacre of OCT 1838. Ursula escaped the massacre but returned to the area in 1850, living with her son Nathaniel. In Isaac's estate settlement in 1851, his daughter Mary "Polly" Killough Wallace was named as an heir. (Her second
