He is the ancestor of the North Carolina and Arkansas Branches of the family. He moved to Cabarrus Co., NC, before 1797. He was a Presb. minister. Four sons: James, William, John George, Thomas. Compiler's Note: William Killough, above, was listed
in the KILLOUGH FAMILY genealogy books of 1961 and 1971 with a birth date of "before 1780." Subsequently, we have learned that the family Bible of Susan Killough, b. 1851, NC, states that he was born in 1770. This would make it unlikely that he was
the son of Joseph Killough, b. 1760. However, Bible records are not always accurate since they usually depend on someone's memory. Data in that Bible, still in existence, is quoted above the Susan M. Killough, b. 1852, NC, name in this book. Perhaps
he was a brother of Joseph Killough, b. 1860. Though proof of relationship is still lacking at this time, he apparently is closely allied with the above Virginia Killoughs. In this book, we will assume that he is closely related to Joseph Killough of
Virginia. The spelling is given as "Keilough" in some North Carolina families as well as "Kellough".
