Notes for Michael Brandt "Mike" Layne

Michael Brandt Layne, 69, born September 17, 1946 to Brandt and Betty Jean Layne, passed away surrounded by close family and friends on January 30, 2016 due to complications of pneumonia.

Mike was a resident of South Weber, Utah for 37 years. He and the love of his life, Jeannie Jones were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 22, 1968. Together they raised six children. He was a member of the LDS Church and diligently served in many callings that he always felt were the backbone of the Church.

He loved hunting, fishing, and golfing especially when it was with his children and grandchildren. He took special care to attend as many activities, programs and events that his grandchildren were involved in and will always be remembered as their biggest fan. He took pride in his plentiful garden and could always be found sitting in a chair watching his garden grow. He valued the ethic of hard work and devotion, which he exemplified as a small business owner in Ogden, Utah for almost 40 years. His word was his bond and he blessed many lives with his genuine friendship. His charismatic and outgoing personality almost always left a positive impression that will be fondly missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie XMonaX Layne; children: Brian (Stephanie), Brandon, Jason, Jaimee (Tyler) Ames, Kymberlee (Jared) Fowers, Kaylon (Michelle), 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his mother, Betty Jean Layne; siblings: Ted (Janette) Layne, Teri (Kim) Muchmore and Jeff Layne; and mother-in-law, Glenna Jones.

He is preceded in death by his father, Brandt Layne; and father-in-law, Eugene Jones.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the South Weber Stake Center, 7989 S. 2250 E., South Weber. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at LindquistXs Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the church.
