Notes for Lillian Elsie Freeman

"She was born Lillian Freeman to Thomas & Linda Freeman in Sherman, NY. Her father died when she was 4-5 years old, leaving her mother to care for their nine children. A relative passed away shortly there after, leaving Linda with another 8-9 children as well as her own. Sometime around 1930, the State of NY took them all away and placed several of them for adoption. Lillian (my grandmother) was adopted by Edward & Maye Single of Long Island, NY and renamed Joan." -- Information from Nathan Adams, Nov 28, 2017.
