Notes for William Lawrence Hackett

MECHANIC FALLS - William "Bill" Hackett, 74, of Mechanic Falls died Thursday, February 11, 1999, at his residence in Mechanic Falls.
He was born in Minot on January 21, 1925, the son of Emery and Nettie Pollard Hackett. He was educated in Minot and Mechanic Falls schools.
He had worked for many years at Marcal Paper and from 1983 to 1998 he operated a school bus for Mechanic Falls school department. He was a member of the Mechanic Falls fire department serving as a captain.
He married the former Geneva M. Fifield on June 24, 1944.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years of Mechanic Falls; a son, Paul E., of Mechanic Falls; a daughter, Wilma Buteau, of Mechanic Falls; one brother, John H. ,of Mechanic Falls; a sister Harriett Walsh of Grand Marcus, MN; a granddaughter, Denise; four stepgrandchildren and four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and he was predeceased by three brothers, Ralph, Robert, and Parker.
Committal services will be held in the spring at the Maple Grove cemetery in Mechanic Falls at a time and date announced later.
A visitation was held on Sunday, Feb. 14, at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Mechanic Falls.
Donations in Mr. Hacketts memory may be sent to the Mechanic Falls Firemen's Association or to the Mechanic Falls Rescue, P.O. Box 130 Mechanic Falls, Maine 04256.
