He enlisted at Thomaston and was a private in Capt. Elkanah Spear's Co. 5th Regiment Infantry (Lieut. Col. E. Foot's) Mass. Militia, which was stationed at Camden, from September 5 to 9, 1814, and at Lermond's Cove, (Rockland, Maine), from Sept. 22,
1813 to August 1, 1814.
